48 Hours in Seminyak - DAY ONE

day one breakfast Breakfast >>> La Louciola Lovingly coined “La Looch” this gem is perched right on the edge of the beach. It is an enormous open, thatch-roofed dollhouse-like building, with dining on two levels, and is the ultimate Bali breakfast experience.  Stroll over the dune after a morning walk, ask to be seated upstairs to make the most of the view and the Bali breeze… La Looch have a weekend brunch menu so going on a Sunday is imperative. Start off with a banana and passion fruit OR lychee and lime granita. Order the double cooked pancake with mango compote and mascarpone or the fruit melody with its yoghurt-mouse-pistachio composition of happiness.  Simply divine.  La Looch have the BEST hash browns EVER and the bacon would act temptress to the staunchest vegetarians, it really is that good, so for an epic feast order these as sides, (go – on, you walked there after all) The service is faultless, always attentive but not in-your-face and their sarong-clad semi-traditional uniform are one of the smartest around. day one relax Relax >>> Bodyworks Keeping to the strict 48-hour theme, we are sacrificing the 3 hour full body hot stone massage, for a short and sweet session that will hit the spot – a crème bathe from Bodyworks in Seminyak, just across the car park from La Looch and one of Bali’s most reputable and largest Day Spa’s. It is a 45 minute treatment in which they work your head neck and shoulders until you are in a massage induced state of nirvana. I would suggest as soon as you land in Bali, make it through customs, dump your bags at your villa and get straight to Bodyworks for your first slice of Bali heaven; a crème bath. *If you have longer in Seminyak, book in your full body massage and a pedi! day one poolside Poolside >>> Potato Head Beach Club Now relaxed and content make the most of the days sunshine get your butt to Potato Head Beach Club. Get there by midday for poolside lounger. Perched meters from the sand, in an amphitheatre style, the architecture is built using an unjust collection of teak shutters gathered from the 18th century Indonesian archipelago creating an impressive yet rustic and tropical feel, while the inside is a wide-open space with several bars and eateries, their menu(s) are divine and they have an extensive cocktail list that is beyond delicious. Our suggestion (and the barman’s) is the kookobara, it screams ‘I-am-on-holiday’ with it’s fruity frothy goodness. Need I say more? With a great boutique “Eleven” you can shop, stay, swim, snack and sip poolside all day! We totally rate the chicken Fajita’s but Mino from Foureyes rates their fish and chips. day two sunset martinis Sunset >>> Cocktails Stay till sunset, or head back to your hotel and freshen up and find your way to the W hotel on Jl Petitinget, (pools a-plenty) or Seminyak classic Ku De Ta – both great places to perch up for an hour, or for the night. Try a sherbet mojito or a Moscow Mule and watch the sun go down. day one naughty dinner Dinner >>> Naughty Nuri’s To make the most of your limited time – We hope you are still hungry, as you MUST try Naughty Nuri’s on Jl Batu Belig.  A bustling road side warung that is charmingly rude – the aroma of honey soy charred meat fills the streets summoning BBQ ribs enthusiasts. With the most lethal martinis in town it is totally worth the venture. You will be bunked in at a shared table making the jostling atmosphere all the more spontaneous and fun. Ordering a martini is mandatory – trust us. You will see why. (clue: shake it!)  Don’t wear white and be ready for a finger-licking-good time.
