NEW SEASON ARRIVALS

Styled by Karlya Smith and photographed by Belinda Merrie, Saben ‘Winter Garden’ comes together in an image series that is both charming and clever. The handbags are composed with winter produce, a witty play on the concept of forbidden fruit. Rest assured it isn’t the apple Eve will be swooning over; this desirable new collection couples intuitive design with a bold use of colour.

Rosewood is bold, bright, warm and energetic. This fiery red hue exudes confidence and unquestionably makes a sartorial statement in new silhouette Skye. Prussian and Raisin resonates an air of sophistication while green tones have staying power, but this time the shade is much darker and herbaceous with Olive. Neutralists need not panic, Camel is the perfect light natural shade with warm under tones, sure to bring brightness to the layers of a dark winter wardrobe.

Designed by Roanne Jacobson, who has a deep understanding of the value of a handbag’s function: a vessel ultimately holding the chaos and order of a woman’s life in one centralised and stylish place.  The harmony of form and function are cemented in mainstay silhouettes that have become synonymous to the brand; Frankie, Fifi, Tilly, Big Sis’ and Matilda. This season these staples have become a vehicle for colour, and the tones of ‘Winter Garden’really speak up, whether they’re bold and brave or soft and subtle. “Inspired by the women who wear them, more playful tones have become paramount as our customers become more confident with colour.” Jacobson says.

Perennial black gets an update with texture; the oversized pebble grain of bubble and embossed croc materialized in Gita, Sadieand new distinctive shape Liv, are super chic and bound to gain momentum from customers and coinsures alike. Truffle is the most unexpected hue in the range, “it is one of those colours that is strangely familiar; it sits between tones, making it surprisingly easy to pair back with your wardrobe.” Jacobson says. Truffle is often paired with additional hardware, for added luxe appeal.

The silhouettes range from mini to massive. Nikko, a casual, on-the-go sling gets a high-fashion upgrade - peppered with micro-studs for that wink of fun winter outfitting needs. At the other end of the scale Roma, an oversized carry-all-come-weekender is a solution that speaks to those with hoarding tendencies.

This season also announces the construction with new Saben branded hardware, in signature pale gold, proving luxury really is in the details. “Quality is never an accident. It is always the result of considered effort. We spend most of our time and energy perfecting clever design. Every single detail from material to technique is thought through with obsessive attention.” Says Jacobson.

‘Winter Garden’ collection will be available in stores and online from 12th February 2020. Prices start from $49 - $629.
